Preparation, analysis, biological activity of Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides: A review

摘要: Polygonati Rhizoma comes from the dried rhizomes of Polygonatum sibiricum, Polygonatum kingianum, and Polygonatum cyrtonema, ethnic minorities often use it to treat weakness of the spleen and stomach, kidney deficiency, sour and soft waist and knees, cough from lung deficiency. This paper reviews the preparative and analytical methods, structural characteristics and biological activities of Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides, intending to provide a reference for the in-depth study of Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides, expanding the clinical applications of Polygonati Rhizoma. Many studies have shown that Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides have antioxidant, regulate the immune system, hypoglycemic effects, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-osteoporotic and intestinal dynamic balance effects. Different species, processing, preparation and assay methods may affect the structure and biological activity of Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides. The protected geographical indications (PGI) production areas of Polygonati Rhizoma ensure the high quality and authenticity of Polygonati Rhizoma, and the ethnic medication experience provides a practical basis for the study of the biological activity of Polygonati Rhizoma. The preparation techniques, detection methods and structural characterization of Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides are current research hotspots, and the various biological activities of Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides may be generated by the regulatory effects of Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides on the intestinal flora. In the future, further clinical trials should be conducted to elucidate the relationship between the structure of Polygonati Rhizoma polysaccharides and their activities.
